Hunter Energy is a full-service land company handling all aspects of land services across the Rocky Mountains, down through the Mid Continent, out in the Permian and right here at home in the Ark-La Tex. From its beginning in 1989 as an oil and gas production subsidiary of Stephen O. Smith & Associates, a petroleum land services company, Hunter Energy has built its business based on old school principles combined with the latest innovation.
Stephen O. Smith & Associates was originally formed in 1981, providing clients with all aspects of petroleum land services in Louisiana, Arkansas, Texas, Mississippi and Alabama. In 1993, Stephen O. Smith & Associates was dissolved and all operations of the company were continued under the name of Hunter Energy Corporation.
Hunter Energy is a family owned corporation with Stephen O. Smith, serving as its President and Chief Operating Officer. Smith’s oldest son, Hunter, serves as Vice-President and the company’s lead management broker.
Hunter Energy has continued to experience solid growth since its inception. It currently provides complete land services for clients in the Ark-La-Tex, Permian Basin, Mid-Continent region, Rocky Mountains, the Gulf Coast and Bakken. The company maintains a staff of professionals, which includes an inventory of 25-50 experienced landmen and the right amount of in house support personnel to keep our clients land costs to a minimum. Most of the brokers at Hunter Energy have a minimum of 10 years of field experience with several having 15 years or more.
